The coronavirus death toll in Iran has passed 10,000 and is rising by the day according to the Ministry of Health
A second wave of COVID-19 cases are spreading through the Middle East and south east Asia with Iran seeing a rise in deaths, show figures from the World Health Organization.
The rise in new infections began after restrictions were eased in Mid April. Within the last 24 hours Iran recorded 134 deaths, bringing its total fatalities to 10,130 and a further 2,595 new infections.
Iran has a population of 81.8 Million people, of those 215,000 have been infected with the virus. Senior officials in the country are adamant on reimposing restrictions if social distancing measures are not observed.
President Hassan Rouhani said considerations were being made to make the use of masks mandatory in public spaces as the surge of new infections and deaths continues to plague the nation.
Over one-Million Iranian citizens have been tested for the virus, to date this pandemic has hit Iran harden than any other middle eastern country followed by Turkey with 5046 confirmed deaths.
